12/12/2024 – CHASE DOWN UNCHARTED TERRITORY

CHASE DOWN UNCHARTED TERRORITY

WITH THE 2025 KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE R

Be it isolated ice-clad tundras, heavily wooded forests or dried-up riverbeds, the 2025 KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE R is ready to cross borders in search of new, uncharted ground. The KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE R sits at the top of the offroad Adventure food chain and obliterates all challengers, providing off-grid Adventure motorcyclists with the ideal platform to travel beyond the beaten track.

For 2025, the KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE R features an all-new bodywork design, LED lighting, a shorter, more offroad-focused windshield, and more storage binnacles. The 2025 KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE R sees an increase in frame stiffness, improving handling and track stability. A reworked crash bar – fitted as standard – has also been stiffened, with an additional arm towards the engine bracket providing increased protection.

Unlike the KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE S and S EVO, the KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE R is fitted with a more traditional suspension set up better suited to hard offroad use, with a 48 mm WP XPLOR split cartridge fork up front and WP XPLOR Progressive Damping System (PDS) shock taking care of duties at the rear end.

Engine displacement is increased from 1,300 to 1,350 cc, producing a staggering 173 Ps at 9,500 rpm and 145 Nm at 8,000 rpm, with all-new CAMSHIFT™ technology providing improved rideability in the low rpm range. This makes for a smoother response when negotiating tight trails.

The innovative CAMSHIFT technology provides variable-valve timing with two individual cam profiles. At higher revs, the inlet cams shift sideways, opening the valves for longer to increase fuel flow into the cylinder head, drastically increasing performance. In the lower rev range, the inlet cams have a reduced valve timing and lift. This technology results in a noticeable increase in rideability at both slower speeds and high-performance use on faster, open roads.

The KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE R also receives KTM’s new premium electronics package, with an all-new eight inch vertical-mounted dashboard featuring inductive technology allowing easy operation – even when wearing thick winter or offroad gloves. The new dashboard also features an innovative Anti-reflex, anti-fingerprint and anti-glare coating which improves overall visibility, as well as giving riders access to new RIDE MODES, built-in Navigation and Connectivity features.

The new 2025 KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE R will be rolling off the Austrian production line in 2025. UK pricing to be confirmed.

23/10/2024 – GASGAS REVAMPS ITS AWESOME MC-E 5

GASGAS REVAMPS ITS AWESOME MC-E 5

WATER COOLING AND ALL-NEW FRAME HEADLINE THE 2025 UPDATES

GASGAS has always been pumped about its awesome MC-E 5. And for 2025, the popular electric dirt bike is now water-cooled, better than ever and built around a brand-new frame! Already the best-performing and coolest-looking bike in its category, the MC-E 5 now features all-new bodywork, a new shock position and special graphics to indicate its battery-powered motor.

  • GASGAS MC-E 5 now water-cooled for consistent performance
  • New frame and WP shock position elevate riding experience
  • Available in GASGAS dealerships from November

Introducing water cooling on the MC-E 5 is a real game changer. Not only does it keep the 5kW electric motor at a perfect temperature for consistent power, it also extends the running time by 30 per cent! One thing that does stay the same, though, is the fast charging time. It takes around 45 minutes for an 80 per cent recharge and, even better, it’s super easy to swap out the battery for a fully charged one – meaning the fun doesn’t stop for long!

Besides the exciting new motor, the frame is all-new for 2025. Designed specifically for the MC-E 5, the chassis is engineered with refined flex characteristics. The end result being a much more stable and enjoyable riding experience for kids of all ages. The new frame also repositions the WP shock so that it performs even better, especially on the roughest of race tracks.

The MC-E 5 is a fully fledged motocross bike – which is the exact reason it sports similarly styled bodywork to that found on full sized GASGAS models, but scaled down accordingly to create perfect, child-friendly ergonomics. The 2025 MC-E 5 is a lot easier to have fun on, as the riding experience has been considerably improved compared to its predecessor. The new graphics, featuring a splash of blue to highlight its electric drive, create a cool look for the little red ripper.

There’s a lot to love about the MC-E 5. It makes no noise, meaning it can be ridden almost anywhere. It offers six ride modes that allow for progression, and for progression to be controlled. Overall ride height can be adjusted, allowing the bike to grow with the rider, keeping them on the same bike for longer as they build up confidence and skill level. Consisting of typically GASGAS red and black bodywork, plenty of safety features and high-quality parts, the MC-E 5 looks as great as it performs!

Technical Highlights

  • New water cooling – maintains a perfect motor temperature for consistent power and a 30 per cent longer running time
  • New bodywork – taken from the full-size motocross bikes and scaled down perfectly for the MC-E 5
  • New frame design – designed specifically for the bike, with repositioned WP shock for improved handling and comfort
  • New NEKEN handlebars and ODI grips – black anodised with smaller diameter at each end for maximum control, grip and comfort
  • Water and dust-resistant motor – the 5kW motor is pretty much maintenance-free
  • Rechargeable Lithium-ion cell battery – easy to swap and now features a more durable plug for improved longevity and can be connected to any 110 or 230 volt socket

  • Adjustable seat height – allows kids to keep riding the same bike to build up their skills and confidence
  • Adjustable WP XACT suspension – provides comfort and allows riders to create a perfect set-up
  • Hydraulic brakes and wavey discs – for consistent performance at all times, in all conditions
  • Rear brake pedal – for kids to get used to using a foot brake from an early age
  • Black anodised rims – made from strong and light aluminum, adding the factory look
  • MAXXIS MX-ST tyres – provide excellent grip and traction to instill confidence in every young rider
  • Fibreglass-reinforced subframe – super strong and lightweight for a low centre of gravity
  • Rollover sensor – stops the motor when the MC-E 5 is laid over
The 2025 GASGAS MC-E 5 will be available in from November, retailing at £5,999.

19/09/2024 – GASGAS COMES OUT SWINGING

GASGAS COMES OUT SWINGING

WITH A SPECIAL EDITION 2-STROKE ENDURO BIKES – THE EC 300 GP

GASGAS is adding some serious spice to its 2025 line-up with the arrival of the new EC 300 GP! This very special, limited-edition enduro bike is the first of its kind and built to pay homage to every champion that’s ever raced a GASGAS to an enduro world title. And doesn’t it just look the business? GASGAS has taken the super-fun-to-ride and very capable EC 300 and added some of the finest Technical Accessories to boost performance, durability and overall rideability. And check out those graphics! Inspired by the design used on the World Championship-winning enduro bike from way back in 1994 – that’s some 30 years ago now – GASGAS brings some 90s style to the present day to create a seriously cool-looking bike that offroad aficiandos are going to love!

  • GASGAS reveals its first special-edition enduro bike – the EC 300 GP
  • New model designed to take offroad performance to a higher level
  • Available in GASGAS dealers countrywide from October
The first thing to notice with the EC 300 GP is, without a doubt, the special graphics. By using a similar colour scheme as the title-winning bike from the early 90s – that’ll be the 125 Endurocross, sports fans – the overall look is certainly sharp! But what ties the whole look together are the black rims, glossy black frame and the two-tone style of the bodywork and grippy seat cover. And beyond the aesthetics, there’s a whole lot more going on…

As everyone knows, when it comes to enduro, riders face changing conditions. And that’s precisely why a map select switch is found on the left side of the black NEKEN handlebars. This allows the pilot to choose, and even change while riding, the engine map setting depending on the terrain. With Map 1 selected, slippery or technical sections become a whole lot easier to master, but when the going gets tough, Map 2 puts power to the ground in an instant and it’s also the perfect choice for using on classic special tests.

A selection of Technical Accessories combine to maximise durability and ensure that no days on the EC 300 GP are cut short. A radiator fan that kicks into action when needed to keep things cool, while a skid plate protects the frame and motor. Black handguards fend off impacts and also prevent damage to the controls in the eventuality of the inevitable drop. Then there’s a SUPERSPROX Stealth rear sprocket, which isn’t just super durable, but with its red-anodised centre, it definitely adds a little extra spice to the bike, too.

Last but not least, this fine selection of parts complete the EC 300 GP: a semi-floating front brake disc for improved braking performance in all conditions, while a front axle puller – anodised red, of course – speeds up wheel changes. And finally, the black rims are wrapped in what may well be the best performing enduro rubber on the market – METZELER 6 Days Extreme tyres! Check out the full model spec below.

Technical Highlights
Vibrant graphics – Inspired by the GASGAS raced to victory in the 1994 Enduro World Championship
Black frame – Ties all the new components and graphics together perfectly
New bodywork – Creates a unique look for the EC 300 GP and provides plenty of contact surfaces for increased grip and control
Seat cover – Black and red, and super grippy for complete control
Black NEKEN handlebars – For strength, flex and a little more style
Black handguards – Protecting the rider’s hands as well as the clutch and front brake levers for when things get wild in the woods
Red front axle puller – Speeds up wheel changes for less time spent in the pits
Semi-floating front brake disc – Delivers outstanding braking power
Strong rear brake disc – The wavey disk is stronger than what’s found on the standard EC 300 to help prevent it from bending
Rear brake pedal safety wire – The pedal tip is connected to the frame with strong wire to protect the pedal from any potential impact damage
Red SUPERSPROX stealth rear sprocket – Provides exceptional durability and a splash of colour
Skid plate – Helps you glide over obstacles with ease while protecting the frame and motor
Map select switch – Offers two choices of power to suit the riding conditions
Radiator fan – Helps keep the motor cool when things get tough
Black rims – Adds plenty of style and strength to the EC 300 GP
METZELER 6 Days Extreme tyres – Providing grip and traction on every kind of surface

Riders can find the 2025 GASGAS EC 300 GP in stock from October, and can experience this spicy special-edition enduro machine for £9,899.

For those who want to further spec their EC 300 GP and get the full GASGAS look, GASGAS offers a comprehensive range of Technical Accessories and Apparel.

21/11/2024 – A WORLD OF ADVENTURE AWAITS

A WORLD OF ADVENTURE AWAITS

WITH THE NEW 2025 KTM 790 ADVENTURE

The 2025 KTM 790 ADVENTURE supersedes the KTM 890 ADVENTURE, taking its rightful place in the ADVENTURE lineup below the KTM 890 ADVENTURE R, as a more affordable but extremely capable stablemate – with new suspension setting the bar even higher.

Thanks to a slew of upgrades to the previous generation, in 2024, KTM made the KTM 790 ADVENTURE more stable. Reworked throttle bodies brought cleaner and more efficient fuelling, enhanced combustion, and a ‘knock control’ sensor improved capacity for lower octane fuel. The 2024 package included a reworked Power Assist Slipper Clutch with new friction plates and an airbox that ensures improved breathing.

For 2025, the KTM 790 ADVENTURE receives some welcome upgrades, consisting of adjustable 43 mm WP APEX open cartridge front forks and a WP APEX shock absorber taken directly from the KTM 890 ADVENTURE, along with two new dynamic and eye-catching colourways.

Up front, split function technology separates the compression and rebound damping between the two fork legs, with respective adjusters on the top cap of each fork leg. This allows for a more precise set up to suit a wider variety of riding scenarios, both on and offroad. Meanwhile, the adjustable WP APEX shock absorber provides 200 mm of travel and features a rebound damping adjuster, along with a hand adjuster for the spring preload to allow for easy alterations.

This chassis provides increased torsional stiffness and a lower centre of gravity, offering optimal front tyre feedback for superior control. Stability, combined with agile, sporty handling, has been further refined through the addition of the latest generation WP APEX Semi Active Technology (SAT) suspension front and rear. Comfort Mode has also been heavily revised, improved for those longer days in the saddle. This was a major focus during the development phase and is where riders will notice the biggest difference from the previous generation model. This setup enhances sensitivity and responsiveness, offering greater customisation options for a more dynamic and adaptable riding experience.

Blistering performance requires equally strong stopping power, which is achieved by the proven Brembo systems. Up front, a set of four-piston Stylema monoblock calipers grip 320 mm floating discs, while the rear is equipped with a Brembo twin-piston floating caliper and a 240 mm disc for precise, controlled braking. A new MCS (multi-click-system) front brake lever enables increased adjustability, while Cornering ABS, Supermoto ABS, as well as the new Supermoto+ and Sport ABS modes provide riders with multiple options.

Fitted with lightweight Michelin Power 6 tyres that feature dual compound technology, straight line and cornering grip has been increased. Additionally, a new Tyre Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) with improved functionality allows riders to set a custom pressure for track riding.

A state-of-the-art electronics package has been developed, offering class leading rider aids and a new Ride Mode concept. Its revolutionary 8.8 inch TFT (H88) touchscreen dashboard benefits from a simplified menu structure, while the CCU3.0 also ensures seamless reconnection with your smartphone on every ignition cycle. 31/10/2024 – PUNISH THE COMPETITION

PUNISH THE COMPETITION

WITH THE NEW 2025 990 DUKE R

More aggressive, bolder, and built to punish all before it. The 2025 KTM 990 DUKE R sets the new standard in the middleweight Naked bike segment, building upon the existing KTM 990 DUKE platform with added flare. Put simply, its sportier stance and READY TO RACE purpose places it way ahead of the chasing pack. THE PUNISHER is here as the most brutal of all.

KTM celebrated 30 YEARS OF DUKE in 2024 and the latest R model in the line-up arrives with maximum fight at its core. Situated at the pinnacle of its class, increased power, and a more focused intent make the KTM 990 DUKE R the most aggressive middleweight, that guarantees riders the edge on both road and track.

Its white colour trim and graphic, complete with matt black and white accents and an electronic orange gloss powder coated frame, draws inspiration from various heritage models in the previous KTM 990 SUPER DUKE R range – in particular, the second-generation model produced between 2011 and 2013. The ‘R’ on the tank immediately signals its next-level DUKE DNA without compromise.

The premium new generation tech features offer unprecedented electronic functionality. The new 8.88-inch landscape-mounted touchscreen TFT dashboard includes inductive technology and a split-screen mode, enhancing readability and optimising information display. For more in-depth information on the all-new TFT dash, click HERE.

KTM 990 DUKE R riders also benefit from a fresh new switch cube layout, connectivity unit, map navigation system and customisable ride modes, along with the introduction of SPORT ABS and SUPERMOTO+ ABS, for riders who demand limits to be smashed.

In comparison to the KTM 990 DUKE introduced last year, the R version’s 947 cc engine now boasts an additional 7 PS – up from 123 PS to 130 PS – while maintaining 103 Nm of torque and with a 10,500 RPM limit. Its elevated power output is courtesy of improved mapping that truly unleashes the fire-breathing might of the LC8c motor.

Weight has remained the same for a total READY TO RACE weight of 190 kg, complementing the updated ergonomics that result in a slightly higher centre of gravity. Both the seat height and ground clearance are 15 mm higher, which is a result of longer suspension travel and a steeper swingarm angle that allows around three degrees more lean angle when on the attack. The frame and swingarm have also been updated due to the suspension linkage construction at the rear, allowing the rider more mechanical grip for harder riding.

Fully adjustable WP APEX Suspension components are equipped front and rear, boasting the new Open Cartridge fork with 143 mm of travel. With a diameter of 48 mm – increased from 43 mm on the KTM 990 DUKE – it is 34 per cent stiffer, with upgraded settings developed to offer a sportier feel. The bike becomes more planted with better control, without sacrificing agility.

Additionally, the new WP APEX rear shock incorporates upgrades in line with the linkage system, with travel reduced to 140 mm – a ten mm reduction to compensate for the introduction of the linkage. It too has been developed for maximum performance, fitted with a new linear spring keeping things in check for all day attacks on the street or track.

High-performance braking systems, including Brembo Stylema monoblock calipers and a Brembo MCS master cylinder, are utilised at both ends. They feature 320 mm discs (compared to 300 mm on the KTM 990 DUKE), lighter components, and a more precise feel under braking, ensuring dominant performance in all circumstances.

The 2025 KTM 990 DUKE R features Michelin Power Cup 2 tyres that wrap around adapted orange rims carried over from the KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R model. Its refined technical enhancements make it a formidable mid-capacity naked bike, ready to take on any road or track with a pure READY TO RACE attitude. THE PUNISHER is taking no prisoners in the mid-range battlefield!

A full range of KTM PowerParts and KTM PowerWear has also been developed specifically to suit the KTM Street range, further maximising the potential for riders to customise their bikes.

17/10/2024 – FRESHLY CHARGED FOR 2025

FRESHLY CHARGED FOR 2025

KTM FREERIDE E BRINGS NEW ENERGY TO KTM OFFROAD E-MOBILITY

Ten years after KTM first introduced the electric FREERIDE concept to market, the completely refreshed 2025 KTM FREERIDE E represents the company's next step in its approach to the liberty, practicality and vast potential of offroad e-mobility.
The 2025 KTM FREERIDE E – ridden by hardenduro star Manuel Lettenbichler – marks a significant milestone for KTM, a full decade after the electric KTM FREERIDE E concept was introduced. Lettenbichler’s endorsement of the bike showcases its capability in challenging off-road environments, validating its performance at the highest level of the sport.

KTM treasures the virtues of the platform: the KTM FREERIDE E tackles not only some of the environmental issues with offroading (low emissions, near silent noise, which means it can be ridden almost anywhere) but also the benefits of low maintenance. The all-new KTM FREERIDE E is also the perfect choice for riders seeking trial-like capabilities without the limitations of a traditional trials bike, such as the lack of a seat, short gear ratios and excessive noise. The bike provides the thrill of instant torque and power, and a set-up with both brakes mounted on the handlebars will allow experienced users to work more on their technique and positioning, while being the easiest possible introduction to the awesomeness of riding for newcomers.

Back in 2014, KTM unveiled the KTM FREERIDE E in both Enduro and Motocross forms, followed by a street homologated version for urban commuting and ‘play riding’. A decade later, technology has advanced, hardware is better and lighter, and software has become cleverer. Into this setting comes the latest expression of the KTM FREERIDE E, showing that KTM rigorously believes in the future and possibilities of battery power. The 2025 KTM FREERIDE E is a natural progression from the superb roster of new KTM SX-E minicycles, which form the ideal learning stage for future bikers.

So, what’s new?

KTM’s R&D department has been busy bringing the most exciting interpretation of electric drivetrain technology to the KTM FREERIDE E platform. Boasting 11 kW of nominal output, 19.2 kW peak power, more than 37 Nm of torque, and a top speed of 95 km/h, the engine is a much quieter, cooler, safer unit that is water and dustproof, and fully integrated into the overall character and feel of the motorcycle. Three ride modes (ECO, NORMAL, and SPORT) and three energy recuperation settings (OFF, MID, and HIGH) can be synced to ensure flexibility with the range and power package of the KTM FREERIDE E. Traction control can also be pegged to a certain level to limit or increase wheelspin. More safety considerations come from the ‘rollover sensor’ that cuts the power in the event of a crash.

KTM prioritised nimble and light handling, and developed a new chassis. The geometry has been altered and the wheelbase widened for more stability and comfort. The chassis can remain featherweight and slim by hinging the chrome-molybdenum steel frame on the load-bearing engine and battery architecture. Expect the final ride-ready weight to be less than 112 kg, and the aluminum and glass-fibre reinforced nylon subframe helps in this respect. The KTM FREERIDE E’s seat height is 910 mm.

The 29 kg MX50 Lithium-Ion battery has been tested and proven in the most extreme conditions. It has been constructed in a way that means it is interchangeable, allowing the use of a second pack while the charging process takes place or to increase travel use. The capacity is 5.5 kWh, an improvement of 1.5 kWh compared to the previous KTM FREERIDE E, and 20% more riding time or distance. Battery life can withstand over 1,000 charge cycles before dipping to 80% effectiveness. Typical Enduro riding time is estimated to be between two and three hours.

The KTM FREERIDE E comes with a 660 W charger and will complete a full charge in eight hours with a normal household supply. 20-80% rate can be reached between four and five hours.

Robust and dependable handling is achieved with the latest generation of WP Suspension. The front end is reactive but planted when required, thanks to light 43 mm WP XACT split design fork, with the air capsule in the left unit and the oil damping system in the right. Adjustment is easily made with the single air pressure valve and supplied air pump, for preload, with clickers offering compression and rebound adjustment. The brand-new design of the WP XPLOR PDS system provides 250 mm of travel on the rear. Oil flow has been optimised for a more consistent damping feeling from the 374 mm shock. New bearing seals have enlarged service intervals. The WP XPLOR PDS comes with adjustable clickers for tool-less alterations on the fly.

Other features include black aluminum wheels – fitted with versatile Michelin Enduro Medium tyres for EU models, BRAKETEC braking systems featuring 260/240 mm front and rear discs, a new Switchcube selection unit for the handlebars, and in-mould graphics and aesthetics that perfectly complement the look of the KTM SX and KTM EXC lines.

The 2025 KTM FREERIDE E is a versatile electric dirt bike with both off-road prowess and road-legal capabilities, given its road homologation. This feature allows riders to tackle untouched trails and then legally transition to public roads, making it perfect all round FREERIDE.

2025 KTM FREERIDE E Technical highlights:

  • New 2025 model from the ground up, new in-house KTM drivetrain
  • 11 kW nominal power, 19.2 kW peak power, 37 Nm of torque, and a top speed of 95 km/h
  • 20% more battery potential. 8h charging time with 660 W unit, 1.5h with 3.3 kW power charger (0-100% capacity) & 5.5 kWh battery capacity for 2-3 hours of Enduro riding time

The new 2025 KTM FREERIDE E will be rolling off the Austrian production line this winter and will be available from February 2025.

All-new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM set to bring the fun in 2025

All-new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM set to bring the fun in 2025

Suzuki has revealed all-new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM models, with the covers pulled off the dual sport and supermoto machines today, November 5, at Eicma in Milan, Italy.

Spiritual successors to the popular DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM models of the noughties, the two fresh 400s use a new twin-spar steel frame with a separate, bolt-on aluminium subframe and aluminium swingarm, housing a new 398cc single-cylinder engine. There’s also an electronics package that includes power modes, switchable ABS, and a sophisticated traction control system with off-road modes.

Designed to bring the fun to whatever environment, they promise to make Your World, Your Playground.

Engine

Powering both the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM is a new 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC four-stroke engine. The new engine was designed to meet Euro 5B, while maintaining the reputation of robustness and reliability the engine found in the previous generation DR-Z400 was famed for. It provides a smooth, linear power delivery with stronger torque at lower rpm and increased power output to the rev limit, plus improved fuel economy.

When compared to the previous DR-Z400 engine, there are changes to almost every aspect, from lightweight titanium intake valves and hollow, sodium-filled exhaust valves to new cam profiles and piston. A new cylinder head is equipped with twin spark plugs, there are new crankcases, and a new slipper clutch with Suzuki’s Clutch Assist System.

Fuelling comes courtesy of a ride-by-wire, 42mm bore, electronic throttle body and a 10-hole fuel injector. There’s a new air box, and a new exhaust. The result is a broader spread of power across the rev range, strong drive yet smooth ride, a direct, linear throttle response, and improved fuel economy.

Peak power is 38PS at 8,000rpm, with a peak torque figure of 37Nm at 6,500rpm. Both achieve over 80mpg.

Electronics

Both models use a package of carefully selected, ride-enhancing electronic aids; the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System.

Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) means riders can choose from one of three power modes. Each mode reaches the same peak power output, with A the most direct, delivering the full amount of low-down torque available from the 398cc single-cylinder engine. Modes B and C are progressively softer, allowing riders to dial back the initial power delivery to suit in slippery or low grip conditions.

There are two standard traction control modes on both, with each also equipped with its own specific G (gravel) mode. G mode aims to maintain maximum off-road performance by allowing a certain amount of wheel spin. G mode’s level intervention is set slower than for the traction control system’s other two standard modes, and the maximum level of intervention is also set lower, too. This provides the right balance between preventing excessive wheel spin on slippery surfaces and minimising power loss on surfaces with traction, making the bike easier to control.

On the DR-4S it focuses on enabling riders to enjoy off-road riding with confidence. It does so by adopting an updated version of the system when compared with the application on the V-Strom 1050DE and V-Strom 800DE, by being effective not only on flat surfaces but also on undulating terrain and inclines. On DR-Z4SM it is tailored more towards flat-dirt surfaces, while allowing a little more slip tolerance than on the V-Strom DEs. Allowing more spin lets the rider better tap into the model's supermoto character.

Further enabling greater control off-road is an ABS system that riders can tailor to their needs and riding conditions. On the DR-Z4S riders can disengage the ABS at the rear, or at the front and rear. On the DR-Z4SM, riders can disengage the rear ABS.

There’s also Suzuki’s easy-start system, which means the engine fires up with one press of the starter button, and there’s no need to pull the clutch lever when starting in neutral.

All rider information is displayed via a compact LCD dash.

Chassis

A brand new, twin-spar steel frame was developed for the new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM. It is mated to a new aluminium subframe and an aluminium swingarm. Like the engine, it was designed to build on the previous model's reputation for precise, agile handling and easy manoeuvrability. The new chassis is rigid, yet supple, meaning it can absorb impact and bumps on rougher terrain, and reduce rider fatigue.

Long-travel suspension on both the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM comes from KYB, specifically tuned for each model’s intended application. There is 280mm of front fork travel and 296mm of rear wheel travel on the DR-Z4S, while the DR-Z4SM has 260mm of front suspension travel and 277mm of rear wheel travel. Both have compression and rebound damping adjustment at the front and rear. There’s also preload adjustment on the rear shock.

Wheels are wire-spoked on both. The DR-Z4S is fitted with a 21” front and 18” rear, compared to the 17” rims in the DR-Z4SM. IRC GP-410, dual purpose, tubed tyres are standard on the S, while the SM is shod with Dunlop SPORTMAX Q5A tyres.

There are disc brakes all round, and the tapered aluminium handlebars are equipped with half-waffle grips which distribute pressure across the palms and make the grips easier to hold, aiding control and greatly reducing rider fatigue. Foot pegs are wide and solid, providing sure-footing and a robustness to withstand impacts off-road. There’s also an aluminium under guard as standard.

Ground clearance comes in at a useful 300mm on the DR-Z4S, and 260mm on the DR-Z4SM. Seat heights are 920mm and 890mm and they weigh 151kg and 154kg, respectively.

Styling

Taking design cues from Suzuki’s RM-Z range, the new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are designed to emphasise agile performance with a linear connection from front to rear. The focus was on establishing a bold horizontal line along the sides that cuts right from the front fender through to the tail.

Ergonomics also played a key role in the new design, and the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are crafted as to not interfere in any way with the rider and their movement.

Lighting all-round is LED, from the single assembly headlight, rear combination lights, and indicators.

The DR-Z4S is available in Suzuki’s signature off-road Champion Yellow, and Solid Iron Grey, both with black rims. The DR-Z4SM comes in a new blue/grey colour scheme, dubbed Sky Grey, plus a Solid Special White, equipped with blue rims.

The ‘DR-Z’ decals on each side of the cowling, in front of the engine, are modern and simple. Following the horizontal line along the cowling, these decals feature a colourful gradation below the lettering that reflects the modern image of the DR-Z.

A range of accessories is also available, which includes items such as hand guards, a lower seat, and a rear carrier rack.

Pricing and availability

Pricing for the new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM will be confirmed in the New Year, with arrival set for summer, 2025.
